Buffalo River Trail Crew

Spring ’26 Wrap-up

We had our largest crew since moving to the upper river area, and a very productive week. Some numbers: 405 volunteer-hours, about 26 miles of trail cleared and lopped by 6 returning crew members and 4 first-timers, 4 days with temps in upper 80s to lower 90s, 1 morning with temps in low 30s, 1 day with some light rain.

We worked all the unadopted parts of the BRT except the mile between Parker-Hickman Homestead and Erbie Campground, and revisited the landslide area 2 miles downriver of Steel Creek. The landslide area looked much better than I thought it would with the outer edge of the tread showing erosion in only 2 areas. We reinforced those areas with rock and pulled some of the loose material from the backslope.

We completed tread repairs in 3 areas (and found more to do), removed many obstructions, and lopped a bunch of green briar and cedar sprouts.
